Final Voter List in Raipur to Be Released Soon; Over 1 Lakh Names Dropped Due to Incomplete Documents

The final voter list for Raipur district is expected to be published in the next one to two days. Out of 1.33 lakh citizens issued notices due to incomplete documents across seven assembly constituencies, only 32,153 people submitted valid responses with proper documentation. As a result, over one lakh names have been removed from the voter list.

Following the publication of the preliminary voter list, 34,791 individuals submitted responses, of which 2,636 were rejected due to invalid or incomplete documents. Consequently, only 32,153 names will be reinstated in the new voter list. Once the final list is published on February 21, affected voters can apply for name reinstatement via the Election Commission’s website or through local tehsil offices with officer assistance.

Correction of Logic Errors in the Software

Separately, approximately 4.22 lakh voters’ names were temporarily removed due to errors in details such as name, address, gender, and parental information. Most of these removals were caused by logic errors or software glitches. Election officials have been correcting these errors online, and a significant number of names are being restored. The final updates and software synchronization are ongoing, which may take another day or two to complete. Officials confirmed that efforts are being made to ensure no voter is removed due to system errors, achieving considerable success in this task.

Low Response to Notices Contributed to Drop in Names

A key reason for the removal of over one lakh names is the lack of response from citizens to the notices regarding missing documents. Despite repeated reminders and administrative efforts, many voters did not respond seriously, leading officials and BLOs (Booth Level Officers) to eventually disengage from pursuing such cases.

Authorities clarified that corrections based on available documents have been applied wherever possible, and voters will have another opportunity to restore their names once the final voter list is published.
