FIR Filed Against Chhattisgarh Christian Forum Chief Arun Pannalal
An FIR has been registered against Arun Pannalal, President of the Chhattisgarh Christian Forum, following allegations of spreading false information. The complaint was lodged by Hindu leader Aadesh Soni, who accused Pannalal of disseminating misinformation regarding purported calls for violence against Christians.
An FIR has been registered against Chhattisgarh Christian Forum chief Arun Pannalal at Azad Chowk police station in Raipur. He is accused of making the wrong list of names of tourists martyred in the terrorist attack in Pahalgam, Jammu and Kashmir viral on social media. In the FIR, action has been taken under sections of hurting religious sentiments, spreading rumors and making wrong content viral on social media.
According to the information, Hindu organizations, especially Bajrang Dal and Vishwa Hindu Parishad (VHP), took a tough stand on this matter. The organizations had surrounded Azad Chowk police station and his house demanding immediate action against Arun Pannalal. The activists gave a 48-hour ultimatum to the police and warned that if the FIR was not registered, they would get a public tonsure done at Jayastambh Chowk.
Hindu organizations allege that Arun Pannalal hurt religious sentiments and promoted social tension by sharing the wrong list of martyrs of the Pahalgam terror attack on social media. The police took immediate action in this case and registered an FIR at Azad Chowk police station.
The police said that an investigation has been started in the case and the veracity of the viral material on social media is being investigated. Officials said that such activities can harm social harmony, and strict action will be taken against the culprits.
