First COVID Death Reported in Kanker: District’s Preparedness Comes Under Question

Kanker has reported its first death due to COVID-19, raising serious concerns about the district’s healthcare preparedness. The incident has exposed gaps in medical facilities and the administration’s readiness to tackle rising infections.

A corona patient died during treatment in the district on Monday night. This is the first incident of death due to corona in the district in the year 2025.

According to the information, a 48-year-old patient from Farasgaon in Kondagaon district was admitted to Kanker Hospital for treatment last week. The patient had a serious liver-related disease, for which he was being treated at Kanker Medical College Hospital.

After the death of a patient infected with Covid, the preparations for its prevention were also exposed. An alert has been issued across the country regarding corona, but in Kanker district, even a ward has not been made for corona positive patients.
