Ganja Worth ₹4 Lakh Seized at Raipur Railway Station

Railway police seized ganja valued at ₹4,00,000 from Raipur railway station. Investigation is underway to identify those involved in the smuggling attempt.
The Railway Protection Force (RPF) post in Raipur, in a joint operation with the Excise Department, Raipur, arrested an interstate cannabis smuggler. Seventeen kilograms and 400 grams of cannabis, with an estimated value of ₹4,10,000, were recovered from his possession. The operation took place at 10:15 PM on September 29 near the saloon siding in the circulating area of Raipur Railway Station. The operation was carried out under the guidance of Senior Divisional Security Commissioner Raman Kumar, by a team comprising Inspector Karmpal Singh Gurjar, Sub-Inspector A.Z. Chaudhary, Head Constable V.C. Banjare, and Constable Ghaman Meena from the RPF Raipur, along with District Excise Officer Tag Bahadur Kurre, Inspectors Prakash Deshmukh and Kaushal Soni, and Sub-Inspectors Neelam Savarnakar and Preeti Kushwaha from the Excise Department. The accused, Mithun Diggal (26 years old), a resident of Parampanga village, Titamaha, Kandhamal district, Bataguda, Odisha, was apprehended while carrying eight bundles of cannabis in two bags. During interrogation, he stated that he had brought the cannabis from Odisha to Raipur by bus and planned to transport it to Prayagraj, Uttar Pradesh, by train in a general coach. The Excise Department has registered a case against the accused under Section 20(B) of the NDPS Act (case number 182/2025). The cannabis has been seized, and the accused will be produced before the Special NDPS Court, Raipur, today, September 30.
