GGU Professors Face Setback as HC Refuses to Quash FIR Over Namaz Incident

Professors from Guru Ghasidas University (GGU) who were booked for offering namaz on campus grounds have received a jolt as the High Court rejected their petition to quash the FIR. The court emphasized that the matter warrants further legal examination, denying immediate relief to the accused educators.

 
 

7 professors involved in forcing the students of Guru Ghasidas Central University to read Namaz in the NSS camp have not got relief from the High Court. In view of the seriousness of the matter, the High Court has rejected two petitions filed to cancel the FIR registered in the case.

The division bench of Chief Justice Rakesh Sinha has rejected the petition seeking cancellation of the FIR filed by the professors against themselves. On the complaint of the students, a case has been registered against the teachers of the university in Kota police station under sections 190, 196 (1) (B), 197 (1) (B), 197 (1) (C), 299, 302 and others of BNS.

Let us tell you that the NSS unit in the Central University had set up a camp in Shivtarai village from 26 March to 1 April 2025. During the camp, on the day of Eid, coordinators Dilip Jha, Madhulika Singh, Suryabhan Singh, Dr. Jyoti Verma, Prashant Vaishnav, Basant Kumar and Dr. Neeraj Kumari forced Hindu students to offer Namaz.
