Gold Necklace Worth ₹9 Lakh Stolen on Samta Express, FIR Registered

A gold necklace valued at ₹9,00,000 was stolen from a passenger on the Samta Express between Nagpur and Raipur. GRP has filed an FIR and initiated investigation.

A woman from Raipur travelling in Samta Express has lost her gold necklace worth Rs 9 lakh kept in her ladies bag. The victim Anamika Verma (41 years), resident of MIG-3, Sector-1, Shankar Nagar, Raipur has lodged a written complaint at GRP police station Raipur.

Anamika has told GRP that she was travelling from Hazrat Nizamuddin to Raipur on 16 August in coach S-3, berth number 21 of train number 12808 Samta Express. When the train stopped at Nagpur station at night, she kept her brown coloured ladies bag under her head and fell asleep. When she woke up 10-15 minutes before reaching Durg station, the bag was missing. The bag contained a gold necklace of 75.180 grams, a bracelet of 45.345 grams and a mangalsutra of 10 grams, the total value of which is said to be around Rs 9 lakh.

GRP police station Raipur has registered a case on the basis of the complaint and it has been transferred to GRP police station Gondia for investigation. Police has started searching for the unknown thief.
