HC Slams Reel-Making on Highway, Pulls Up Police

High Court, hearing 3 cases including creating reels by blocking the national highway, said roads are not private property and rebuked police for not taking strict action.

Taking a tough stand on the three incidents that went viral recently, the High Court has summoned a detailed investigation report from the Chief Secretary of the Chhattisgarh government. Taking these cases seriously, the court asked what action has been taken so far in these three cases. The court said that light action in such cases has a negative impact on law and order and it can become a serious threat to the society. The case was heard in the DB of Chief Justice Ramesh Kumar Sinha and Justice B. D. Guru.

In fact, in the news published on 20 July 2025 titled 'Reels made National Highway jam', it was revealed that six youths riding luxury cars were doing stunts on the national highway near Ratanpur. These youths parked cars one after the other in the middle of the road, videographer and bright lighting were also arranged. Due to this, there was a long jam on the national highway. Later, one of these youths Vedant Sharma posted this video on his Instagram ID, which went viral rapidly. In the case, the police initially tried to hush up the matter by imposing a fine of only two thousand rupees each, but when the video went viral and the matter reached the court, an FIR was registered. The driving licenses of the accused were also suspended for three months.
