Heavy Rainfall in Chhattisgarh Disrupts Rail Services; Tracks Submerged, Passengers Inconvenienced

Continuous rainfall in Chhattisgarh has led to waterlogging on several railway tracks, severely affecting train schedules. Passengers are facing delays and cancellations as authorities work to restore normal operations.

The continuous rain in central Chhattisgarh has badly affected the life as well as rail traffic. The railway track at Durg railway station has been submerged in water, affecting the movement of many trains and passengers are facing a lot of trouble. According to the Meteorological Department, there is a possibility of heavy to very heavy rain at one or two places in central Chhattisgarh on July 10. However, there is a possibility of reduction in rain activities across the state from July 11.

An average of 13.2 mm of rain has been recorded in the state in the last 24 hours. So far, a total of 343.6 mm of rain has occurred, which is 15% more than normal. Only in Durg district, 13 cm of rain was recorded in the last day.

Due to rain, water was released from Mongra Dam, due to which Shivnath river is in spate. Due to the rise in the water level of the river, there is a danger of water entering many villages and colonies of urban areas.

The regional details of the rain were as follows:

Balod: 12 cm
Ahiwara: 10 cm
Dhamdha, Mandirhasaud, Gandai: 9 cm
Borai, Arjunda: 8 cm
Dharsiwa, Doondilohara, Bhakhara, Patan, Bhilai: 7 cm
Mana, Mari Bangla, Raipur City, Khairagarh: 6 cm
Saraipali, Arang, Ambagarh Chowki, Pamgarh, Kharora, Gobra Navapara, Gunderdehi, Chhuriya, Labhandi, Mohla, Rajnandgaon: 5 cm
While the continuous rain has benefited the fields and water sources on one hand, its negative impact on public life and traffic system is also clearly visible on the other hand. Efforts are on by the railway administration to drain out the water and normalize the traffic.
