High Court Acts in Constable's Death Case
The High Court has taken suo motu cognizance of a constable's death under a tractor and issued notices to the Mineral Secretary and Forest Department, seeking accountability.
Bilaspur. Constable Shivbhajan Singh died in an attack on a joint team of forest and police that went to stop illegal sand mining at Libra Ghat in Balrampur. The High Court has taken a tough stand on this serious matter. The High Court, taking suo motu cognizance, has issued a notice to the Secretary of Mineral and Forest Department through the vacation bench. The next hearing in the case has been fixed on June 9.
Let us tell you that a joint team of Forest Department and Police had reached the spot on the complaint of encroachment on the river bank. During this, an attempt was made to stop the mining mafia of Jharkhand on the river ghat after seeing them doing illegal sand mining. On this, the Jharkhandi mining mafia attacked the team itself. The sand mafia crushed the constable with a tractor, due to which constable Shiv Bhajan Singh died. After getting information about the incident, IG and SP Vaibhav Banker reached the spot.
TI suspended in the case
In this entire case, IG Deepak Jha has suspended the police station in-charge Divyakant Pandey for negligence. The order states that without informing the senior officers, the TI went to stop illegal sand mining at midnight with insufficient force, where the mining mafia carried out the incident.
