According to police officials, the case was initially registered at Korba Kotwali police station under a zero FIR and later transferred to Sarkanda police station in Bilaspur for further investigation.
The victim, Kajal Tiwari (26), a resident of Korba, stated in her complaint that she married Ankit Tiwari, a resident of Bilaspur’s Sarkanda area, on February 5, 2022, following traditional customs. She alleged that soon after marriage, her husband began returning home drunk regularly and would pick fights over minor issues, often abusing and physically assaulting her.
The complaint details a violent incident on the night of January 23, 2026, around 10 PM, when the accused returned home intoxicated and started arguing about preparing Maggi. During the altercation, he allegedly verbally abused her, threatened to kill her, and assaulted her with fists, kicks, and an iron curtain rod.
Following the attack, Kajal informed her parents over the phone. The next day, January 24, her father arrived and took her back to Korba, where she filed a written complaint with the police.
Authorities have registered a case and forwarded the investigation to Bilaspur police. Further legal action is underway.
