Illegal Tap Connections Discovered in Municipal Corporation Jurisdiction

An investigation has revealed that more than 200 homes have received illegal tap water connections within the Municipal Corporation limits. Authorities suspect insider involvement and are launching a full-scale probe to identify those responsible for facilitating the unauthorized setups, which are causing significant revenue loss and water supply imbalance.

A case of illegal tap connections in the houses of about 200 people has come to light in the Municipal Corporation area. As soon as people complained about this matter to the councilor of their ward, he brought the entire matter to the notice of the Zone Commissioner and now orders have been given to investigate this matter.

In Kohka area under Bhilai Municipal Corporation, at least 200 people were given illegal connections by taking money from them. The connections were given for months. The public representative of the ward and his men, in connivance with the contractor and officers of the corporation, have given connections by taking 5000, 7000, 10000 and 15000 rupees. Executive Engineer Akhilesh Chandrakar has been instructed to investigate this matter.

Tap connections were given in Shikshak Nagar, Sanatan Nagar, Bajrang Para Vivekanand Nagar, Arya Nagar and nearby areas but they have not been given receipts for tap connections yet. The residents of the locality are making rounds to the councilor and the people who installed the connections for the receipt of tap connections. But now they are being asked to go to the corporation. This has shocked them. On receiving such a complaint, Mayor Council's water works in-charge Keshav Chaubey, Mahesh Verma jointly visited and gathered information, then it was revealed that illegal connections have been given by taking money.
