Impact of ‘Visible Policing’ in Rajnandgaon: Overnight patrol leads to arrest of 9 criminals
Digital Desk
The Rajnandgaon Police has launched a ‘Visible Policing’ campaign to strengthen law and order in the city. As part of this drive, police teams conducted intensive night patrols in sensitive areas on Friday night, cracking down on goons, absconders, and anti-social elements.
During the operation, 59 suspects were checked, and 9 criminals were arrested.
Since SP Ankita Sharma took charge, several organizational changes have been made in the police department.
Old constables have been transferred from various police stations and replaced with new ones to enhance responsiveness and accountability.
She has instructed all station house officers (SHOs) to ensure regular evening and night patrols and to take strict legal action against any criminal activity.
Four teams conducted city-wide raids
Under the leadership of Additional SP Rahul Dev Sharma, four special teams were formed comprising 3 gazetted officers, 6 inspectors, and around 100 personnel.
These teams carried out night patrols in various areas under Basantpur and Lalbag police stations — including Dabripara, Kuan Chowk, Nandai, Indiranagar, Banspaipara, Sagarpara, Prabhatnagar, Bangalichal, and Shivnagar — and questioned suspicious individuals.
9 criminals arrested
During the operation, police interrogated 59 suspects, out of which 3 absconding accused, 2 permanent warrant holders, and 4 habitual offenders were arrested.
All have been taken into custody, and legal action is underway.
Fear among criminals, trust among citizens
SP Ankita Sharma stated, “The purpose of Visible Policing is to ensure that criminals do not feel safe anywhere, while the general public gains confidence in the police.”
She added that such drives will continue regularly to maintain a peaceful and secure environment in the city.
