Jitendra Wek from Dantewada's Education City shines at Bengaluru's Premier League event

In a proud moment for Chhattisgarh, a young student from Dantewada district has galloped into the spotlight.

Jitendra Wek, a Class 10 student from Jawanga Education City, has clinched the bronze medal in the prestigious Equestrian Premier League held in Bengaluru. His victory has been celebrated not only by his peers and trainers but also by Dantewada Collector Kunal Dudawat, who praised the achievement as a milestone for the entire Bastar region.

Jitendra has been training in horse riding for over one and a half years as part of a government-supported initiative at Education City. The program, designed especially for tribal youth, offers free equestrian training under the guidance of professional trainers from a private institute in Raipur.

The equestrian setup at Jawanga includes over 10 horses of different breeds, brought in specifically for this purpose. The program aims to promote not just sport but also confidence, discipline, and new career avenues among tribal students.

This success marks a significant milestone in the state's efforts to empower tribal youth through sports and education, and Jitendra’s triumph is a testament to the untapped talent in the region.
