Kalinga University Deputy Manager Duped of ₹5.20 Lakh in Online Fraud

A deputy manager of Kalinga University fell victim to an online scam, losing ₹5.20 lakh. A formal complaint has been lodged and investigations are underway.

Jayshree Verma, a resident of Raipur, the capital of Chhattisgarh, who is working as Deputy Manager (Career and Corporate Resource Center) in Kalinga University, has lodged a complaint of fraud. The victim told the police that on April 4, 2025, she was cheated through an advertisement of work from home on Instagram, in which she lost a total of Rs 5.20 lakh. After the complaint, the police have registered a crime and started investigation.

Jayshree told that after the advertisement, she was added to an account named 'Kaavya Pooja' on Telegram. Initially, she was given a welcome amount of Rs 180 and Rs 200 for completing 17 tasks. After this, she was asked to join the crude oil group and was pressured to gradually increase the investment.
