Karma Tihar 2025: CM Sai Stresses Duty to Preserve Culture

CM Sai said that keeping culture and tradition alive is not just a responsibility but also a moral duty, as people celebrate Karma Tihar 2025 with devotion.

Chief Minister Vishnudev Sai attended the Nature Festival Bhado Ekadashi Vrat – 2025 Karma Tihar program organized by Chhattisgarh Adivasi Kanwar Samaj Youth Division Raipur at the Chief Minister's residence, Nava Raipur yesterday. The Chief Minister started the program by worshiping with traditional rituals. Addressing the program, CM Sai said that our culture is the invaluable heritage of our ancestors. Keeping this culture and tradition alive is not only our responsibility but also a moral duty. Such festivals and traditions give the society an opportunity to unite, which develops a sense of affection, harmony and camaraderie.

Chief Minister Sai said that it is a matter of joy that Karma Tihar is being organized by the youth of Kanwar Samaj in the capital Raipur. Many types of Karma Tihar are celebrated in our tribal culture. Today is Karma Tihar of Ekadashi, which is the festival of our unmarried daughters. The purpose of this Karma Tihar is that our daughters get the best groom and the best married life. By worshiping Lord Shiva and Mother Parvati, daughters wish for a good groom and a good home. After this comes the festival of Dussehra Karma, in which when the daughter comes to her maternal home for the first time after marriage, she celebrates the festival of Vijayadashami by fasting. Similarly, Jiyut Putrika Karma is celebrated, in which mothers pray for the long life of their sons and daughters. This is a difficult fast, in which mothers fast for twenty-four hours without consuming food and water.

CM Sai said that the tribal society has made an important contribution in the freedom struggle of the country. If we talk about Chhattisgarh, then 12 tribal revolutions took place here against the British. Our government is carving the image of the great heroes of tribal culture in the Tribal Museum located in Naya Raipur as a model to display it for the awareness of the general public. The Prime Minister of the country Narendra Modi is being invited to the silver jubilee celebrations organized on the completion of 25 years of the formation of Chhattisgarh state. This museum will be inaugurated by his lotus hands.

CM Sai said that our government has been giving special emphasis on the empowerment of the tribal society. The former Prime Minister of the country, revered Atal Bihari Vajpayee, played an important role in the empowerment of the tribal society by creating a separate ministry of the Tribal Department about 40 years after independence. On the path shown by him, the current Prime Minister Narendra Modi is running the Dharti Aaba Janjati Gram Utkarsh Abhiyan and PM Janman Yojana for the special backward tribal society for the betterment and overall development of the tribal society, due to which the beneficiaries are getting 100 percent benefit of the schemes. Similarly, Dr. Raman Singh, who was the Chief Minister of Chhattisgarh for 15 years, worked to speed up development by forming Bastar, Surguja and Central Region Authority.

CM Sai further said that with the aim of economically empowering the young tribals by connecting them with self-employment, we have made a new industry policy, in which special concessions have been given for Bastar and Surguja areas. Also, it is being ensured that tribal children do not face any difficulty in getting education. For this, national and international level educational institutions are being established in the state itself.

Forest Minister Kedar Kashyap, while addressing the program, said that our tribal culture has been a very rich and glorious tradition. In continuation of this tradition, we are celebrating Karma Tihar today. Continuous work is being done under the leadership of Chief Minister Vishnu Dev Sai to promote the conservation and promotion of our culture. It was under the leadership of Sai that Olympics was organized in the name of Bastar Pandum in Bastar division, which was discussed all over India. Kashyap, on this occasion, sent best wishes of nature festival Bhado Ekadashi Vrat Karma Tihar to all the people of Chhattisgarh.

Patron, All India Kanwar Samaj Vikas Samiti Pamshala, Jashpur, Kaushalya Sai, while addressing the program, said that tribal society and nature are integral parts of each other. Nature has always been adorable for the tribal society. Karma festival is a festival of love for nature. Our culture has been very glorious and its conservation and promotion with time is necessary. He further said that the women of the society can come forward and play an important role in this work of conservation and promotion.
