Knife Attack on Youth in Bhilai Over Old Rivalry; Notorious Clinic Owner Exiled for Spreading Fear

The attack occurred around 6:30 pm near Dadu Tea Shop. Victim Himanshu Pandey was standing with friends Omkar Sahu and Tikeswar Sahu behind the shop when 20-year-old accused Himanshu Sahu approached. According to eyewitnesses, the attacker, citing a long-standing personal rivalry, drew a cutter from his pocket and attempted to strike Pandey on the neck.

Pandey instinctively tried to dodge and the cutter instead struck his back, causing a deep wound. Blood loss prompted immediate intervention by friends and bystanders. The assailant fled the scene before police could arrive. Police confirmed that Pandey received prompt medical attention and his condition has stabilized, while the case is under investigation.

“This appears to be a personal dispute escalating into violence. The accused is being traced, and legal action will follow under relevant sections of criminal law,” said a local police officer.

In a separate law-and-order action, Durg authorities have exiled Dr. Dushyant Khosla, a local resident of Nandini Nagar, for one year following multiple complaints of intimidation, assault, and misuse of his clinic to spread fear. Police records show that Khosla had five registered criminal cases for assault, threats, and creating public disorder.

According to the police, Dr. Khosla used his clinic in Ahivara as a base for coercive and antisocial activities rather than medical services, causing distress among residents. Despite repeated warnings and monitoring, he continued to engage in activities that threatened the community, prompting authorities to recommend his temporary exile. The order was issued by the Durg District Collector after reviewing police submissions.

Officials said the exile aims to curb his criminal influence while providing the individual an opportunity for reform, sending a strong signal against the misuse of positions of authority and power. “Public safety is our priority. Those spreading fear and engaging in criminal activity will face strict action,” said the district administration.

Both incidents underscore the need for vigilance in urban areas where personal rivalries and abuse of authority can threaten community safety. Police have urged residents to report suspicious activity and assured prompt action against violent offenders.
