Maa Khallari sits atop a high hill, nestled amidst the forests, 24 km from Mahasamund district in Chhattisgarh. Devotees must climb approximately 850 steps to reach her. During Navratri, this place is filled with devotion and faith. Devotees line up in long queues to seek her blessings. It is believed that Maa Khallari fulfills every wish of her devotees. Couples deprived of the joy of having children come here with the desire to have children. People from Chhattisgarh, as well as other states and even abroad, come here for darshan.
It is said that in the Dwapar era, after the Lakshagriha incident, the Pandavas stayed on this hill for a long time. It is also proven that Bhima and Hidimba married on this hill, with Maa Khallari as their witness. Bhima's huge footprints remain even today. According to local lore, Bhima's kitchen, called Bhima Chulha, and the site of Bhima's boat also exist, keeping alive the story of the Pandavas' stay here. This site is also known as Bhimkhoj.
