Major Drug Seizure

In a major crackdown, police in Mahasamund district of Chhattisgarh seized narcotics worth ₹4.61 crore and arrested 13 accused within a span of 10 hours. The Mahasamund drug bust was carried out under ‘Operation Nishchay’ across four Thana jurisdictions, officials said on Tuesday.

The seized contraband includes 685 kilograms of ganja and 700 intoxicant tablets. Police described the operation as one of the biggest coordinated anti-drug actions in the region in recent months.

Multi-Location Raids

The Getting things done  was conducted in Busna, Komakhan, Singhodha and City Kotwali areas. Separate teams intercepted vehicles and conducted raids based on intelligence inputs.

At Komakhan, police seized 25 kg ganja from a truck and 200 kg from a car. In Busna, a pickup vehicle carrying household goods was found concealing over 450 kg of ganja beneath Things. In Singhodha, two bikes riders were caught with smaller quantities, while tablets were recovered near the railway station in the city area.

Modus Operandi Exposed

Investigations revealed that smugglers used innovative concealment techniques to avoid detection. Dry fruit consignments, packers and movers vehicles, and even personal वाहनों were used as cover.

Officials said the accused transported narcotics from Odisha to destinations in Uttar Pradesh, Madhya Pradesh and Rajasthan. The network relied on logistics operators and local coordinators to move consignments across state borders.

Arrests Across States

Of the 13 accused arrested, six are residents of Chhattisgarh, while others belong to Odisha, Madhya Pradesh, Uttar Pradesh and Rajasthan. Police sources indicated that the group included drivers, suppliers and handlers.

Several mobile phones, cash and transport vehicles — including a truck, pickup, cars and a motorcycle — were also seized as part of the operation.

Inter-State Network Link

According to officials, the Mahasamund drug bust has exposed a well-organised inter-state smuggling network. Preliminary investigation suggests links to wholesale suppliers and distribution chains operating across multiple states.

Police teams are now working to identify absconding accused and trace the larger syndicate behind the supply chain.

Ongoing Crackdown Drive

Superintendent of Police Prabhat Kumar said the अभियान against narcotics will continue with intensified surveillance and coordinated operations.

“In the past three months, multiple cases have been registered and significant quantities of ganja seized. We are committed to dismantling the entire network,” an official statement said.

Impact and Next Steps

The Mahasamund drug bust is expected to disrupt supply routes linking eastern and northern India. Law enforcement agencies believe the कार्रवाई will have a deterrent effect on organised drug trafficking networks.

Further investigation is underway to track financial links, identify key masterminds and strengthen interstate coordination. Authorities indicated that more arrests are likely in the coming days as the probe expands.
