Major Accident in Bhilai Steel Plant, Massive Fire After Waste Catcher Burst

A major accident occurred at Bhilai Steel Plant after loud explosions from a waste catcher burst, triggering a massive fire. Emergency teams rushed to the spot to bring the situation under control.

A major accident took place on Friday at Bhilai Steel Plant (BSP), SAIL's largest steel plant in Bhilai. The waste catcher suddenly burst in Blast Furnace-8, causing a massive fire with a loud explosion. After the accident, there was chaos in the plant premises. The steel management was immediately informed about this and the fire brigade of BSP reached the spot. After about two hours of hard work, the fire was brought under control.

According to the information, currently about 9,000 tonnes of steel is produced daily from Blast Furnace-8. The fire has directly affected the production. The steel management has currently started trying to continue production under alternative arrangements.

After the accident, the BSP management has ordered an investigation. The cause of the fire has not been clearly known yet. Officials say that a team of technical experts is investigating the entire matter.

The good thing is that there has been no loss of life in this incident, but the accident has raised questions on the security system of the plant. Local employees say that the fire was controlled in time, otherwise the damage could have been even bigger.

Let us tell you that Bhilai Steel Plant is one of the largest steel plants in the country and the production here plays an important role not only at the state level but also at the national level.
