Man Arrested for Brandishing Knife and Creating Panic in Kotmisonaar; Police Parade Accused, Arms Act Case Registered

Police in Janjgir–Champa district have arrested a man for allegedly creating panic by waving a knife in a public place in the Kotmisonaar area. The accused has been booked under provisions of the Arms Act and sent to judicial custody.

According to the police, they received information that a youth was standing near Kotmisonaar railway station, threatening passers-by while brandishing an iron knife. Acting swiftly on the tip-off, a police team reached the spot, cordoned off the area and apprehended the accused.

The arrested individual has been identified as Priyanshu Yadav alias UD, a resident of Azad Chowk, Akaltara. An iron knife was recovered from his possession during the operation.

Police officials said that Priyanshu Yadav has a criminal background, with multiple cases already registered against him, including charges related to attempt to murder and theft. In view of his past record, the police are in the process of preparing a history sheet against him.

Following his arrest, Kotmisonaar police conducted a public parade of the accused in the area, aiming to send a strong warning to others involved in similar criminal activities. Authorities said such action is intended to deter anti-social elements and reassure the public about police vigilance.

Police confirmed that the situation in the area is now under control and no further incidents have been reported.
