Massive Fire Breaks Out at Durg Gym Early Morning; Workout-Goers Escape Unhurt, Equipment Worth Lakhs Destroyed

Panic spread in Durg’s Sindhi Colony Station Road area on the morning of December 10 after a major fire erupted inside a gym. Thanks to the quick evacuation, several people who had come for their early workout narrowly escaped. Fire brigade teams reached the spot immediately and brought the blaze under control after intense efforts, preventing a larger disaster.

The incident occurred around 6 AM in the Mohan Nagar police station limits. A few members were already inside the gym when smoke and flames began to spread. They rushed out quickly and alerted locals, who then informed the fire department. Two fire engines were deployed, and firefighters worked relentlessly to douse the flames. Gym machines and equipment worth lakhs were reduced to ashes. The cause of the fire is yet to be determined.

Fire Started on the Third Floor

According to initial information, the blaze broke out at Manish Dewangan’s fitness center around 6:15 AM. The fire originated on the third floor, which led to thick smoke engulfing the entire building. Upon receiving the alert, the fire control room immediately dispatched two fire tenders to the site.

Almost all gym equipment stored on the floor was destroyed in the fire. Police have begun an investigation to determine the exact cause of the incident.

Intense Effort to Control the Blaze

Firefighters faced significant challenges as the fire had spread to the upper floor. They climbed ladders to reach the third level and directed high-pressure water jets from multiple sides. Both fire engines were used to bring the situation under full control.

Despite the difficult conditions, the team’s coordination and swift action prevented the flames from spreading to other parts of the building.

District Fire Officer Nagendra Kumar Singh said that the operation was led by team in-charges Dhanu Yadav and Bhagwati Panjare, who successfully managed to extinguish the fire.
