Medical College Row: HOD Slaps Nurse, Sparks Uproar

Tensions flared in a medical college after an HOD allegedly slapped a nurse, leading to protests and chaos on campus. Authorities are investigating the incident.
The tussle between doctors in the medicine department of the medical college hospital in Pandri has not been resolved yet and on Monday another case came to light in the surgery department there. Dr. Sunita Meshram, head of the surgery department, misbehaved and beat up staff nurse Damini Deshmukh. After the complaint of the case, the superintendent has formed an inquiry committee. Apart from this, notice is also being given to the concerned doctor. It is alleged that the head of the department, Dr. Sunita, slapped the nurse.
On Monday, at around 1.30 pm, the patient's surgery was going on in the operation theater. When staff nurse Damini Deshmukh made some mistake, the doctor got so angry that she slapped her. After this, all the nurses including the concerned ward protested expressing their displeasure. On receiving the complaint, the officials of Chhattisgarh Pradesh Health Employees Organization also reached there. A memorandum has been submitted to Superintendent Dr. Atul Manohar Deshkar and strict action has been demanded against the concerned doctor. The officials of the organization have also warned of a fierce agitation if satisfactory action is not taken after the investigation.
