Minister Tankaram Directs VCs on Higher Education Reforms

Minister Tankaram held a meeting with Vice Chancellors and instructed them to make the state’s higher education system more transparent and quality-focused.
Universities of Chhattisgarh should provide high level quality education to their students, so that they can make their mark in the country and the world and make the name of the university proud. Higher Education Minister Tankaram Verma said this while addressing the high level meeting of Vice Chancellors of all the government universities of the state organized in Mantralaya Mahanadi Bhawan. Senior officials of the department including Secretary of Higher Education Department Dr. S. Bharatidasan were present in the meeting.
In the meeting, Minister Verma said that there should be no dropout of students in universities and affiliated colleges, for this universities will have to keep a strict vigil and provide all possible help to the students. He told the Vice Chancellors to decide the time-table of the examination in advance, so that the examinations can be conducted on time.
Undergraduate, postgraduate and diploma courses were discussed in the meeting. Minister Tankaram Verma also called upon the universities to take forward international language courses and new educational schemes. Information on the status of academic and non-academic posts in universities, sanctioned posts, number of working professors and courses was presented.
In the meeting, Higher Education Secretary Dr. S. Bharatidasan informed that all the courses will be determined in accordance with UGC and National Education Policy. The Vice Chancellors also gave a presentation on the status of their respective universities and affiliated colleges. On this occasion, Vice Chancellors of all the government universities of the state and senior officials of the Higher Education Department were present.
