Monkey Shot Dead with Air Gun in CG, Forest Dept Launches Probe

A monkey was allegedly shot dead with an air gun in Chhattisgarh. The forest department has begun an investigation into the incident and is identifying those responsible for the act.
A case of killing a monkey by shooting it with an air gun has come to light in Takhatpur district of Chhattisgarh. There is anger among wildlife lovers after the incident. A written complaint has been lodged in Takhatpur police station regarding the matter.
The matter was revealed when the post-mortem of the dead monkey was conducted. The report stated that the monkey died due to an air gun bullet in the body. Two air gun pellets have also been recovered from his body.
Wildlife lovers have condemned the incident and lodged a written complaint in Takhatpur police station. Taking the matter seriously, the ranger of Takhatpur range inspected the spot and a POR (Primary Crime Report) has been registered against the unknown accused.
The Forest Department has started investigating the matter. A list of people possessing air guns in Takhatpur area is being prepared. Forest officials have clarified that if found guilty, strict action will be taken against them under the Wildlife Protection Act.
