MPs to Meet Railway GM Today to Discuss Facilities and Development Plans

A meeting between the honorable Members of Parliament (MPs) from constituencies under the South East Central Railway (SECR) Raipur Division and the Railway General Manager, Tarun Prakash, is scheduled for Tuesday, February 17, 2026, at the Raipur Railway Division office.

The discussion is expected to focus on railway projects in the region, passenger amenities, and future development plans. Prominent attendees include MPs Brijmohan Agrawal, Mahesh Kashyap, Bhojraj Nag, and Rupkumari Chaudhary, along with other elected representatives.

Purpose of the Meeting

During the meeting, MPs will highlight constituency-specific issues and requirements to the railway administration. Present from the railway side will be Divisional Railway Manager Raipur Dayanand, senior officials from the Bilaspur headquarters, and department heads from the Raipur division. The session will begin at 1:30 p.m. and aims to gather suggestions and proposals to improve railway services in the division.

Background: Previous Concerns Raised by MPs

In the last meeting, MPs collectively expressed frustration over the perceived indifference of local railway officials and staff toward their concerns. Raipur MP Brijmohan Agrawal had warned that formal complaints might compel action against officers who fail to engage with representatives seriously.

A major issue raised earlier was the alignment of new railway lines. Despite instructions from the Railway Minister, MPs said they were not consulted on alignment decisions, which they termed an improper procedure. Agrawal emphasized that sensitive matters such as alignment should be resolved through dialogue with MPs to avoid inconvenience to the public.

In addition, MPs discussed promoting green energy initiatives, railway recruitment under the sports quota, and other regional demands. They expressed the expectation that the railway administration will coordinate closely with elected representatives, accelerate development projects, and ensure significant improvements in passenger facilities.

This meeting marks a key step in strengthening communication between MPs and railway authorities to ensure that infrastructure projects and service enhancements meet both regional and public needs.
