A horticulture nursery was inaugurated at Parsa open mine as part of a new initiative aimed at environmental protection and promoting green cover in the mining area.
A special horticulture nursery developed at the Parsa opencast mine of Rajasthan Rajya Vidyut Utpadan Nigam Limited (RRVUNL) was inaugurated at the mine premises. This initiative is an important achievement towards environmental protection, ecological balance and sustainable green development.
On the occasion of inauguration, a special tree plantation program was organized at the nursery site, which gave concrete form to the environmental commitment. So far, more than 20,000 saplings of more than 15 local forest species have been successfully prepared in this nursery. These include species like Sal, Mahua, Tendu, Saja, Baheda, Tamarind, Mango, Jackfruit, Jamun and Neem, which will be helpful in the revival of the local ecosystem. State-of-the-art drip irrigation system is being used for the care of the plants and trained botanists will regularly monitor each plant. Many local people have contributed in making this nursery even more modern and well-equipped.
