New Year Celebrations Turn Violent in Bilaspur: Man Stabbed Over Ganja Sales Dispute

A New Year's Eve party in Bilaspur descended into violence when two brothers allegedly stabbed a young man after he asked them not to sell ganja in the neighborhood, leaving him critically injured.

The victim, Ajit Vishwas, remains hospitalized in serious condition following the attack late December 31 in Torwa police station area, near Kundru temple lane. Brothers Balraj Dhruv and Balveer Dhruv, known locally for peddling drugs including ganja, confronted Vishwas during celebrations. He had warned them against sales that night, citing heightened police vigilance.

The exchange quickly escalated. The duo surrounded Vishwas, one pressing a knife to his throat while the other stabbed him in the back. He collapsed bleeding heavily as friends rushed him to hospital. Neighbors arrived after hearing commotion, but the assailants fled. Police registered a case and launched a manhunt.

Vishwas had been bursting firecrackers with friends when the brothers appeared. His plea for caution on New Year's Eve sparked the fatal argument. Authorities continue investigating the incident, which highlights growing concerns over drug-related violence in residential areas.
