NHM Employees in Chhattisgarh Announce Indefinite Strike from Tomorrow

National Health Mission employees in Chhattisgarh will begin an indefinite strike from tomorrow. Emergency services are also expected to remain shut, raising concerns over healthcare disruptions across the state.

16 thousand employees of National Health Mission (NHM) will go on indefinite strike from Monday 18 August. A warning to this effect was issued on Saturday. Along with this, the Collector, CMHO and BMO have been informed about the indefinite strike. It is known that the NHM employees had given an ultimatum to the state government till August 15 regarding their 10-point demands. There was no decision on their demands, due to which they have decided to go on indefinite strike.

The health system is likely to falter due to the strike of MHM employees. State President of NHM Employees Union Dr. Amit Kumar Miri, General Secretary Kaushalesh Tiwari, Dr. Ravi Shankar Dixit, Puran Das, Hemant Sinha issued a joint statement and said that more than 16 thousand NHM employees across the state will go on indefinite pen down strike. This time the union has decided to keep all emergency services closed including the special newborn care unit in SNCU. Information has already been given in this regard.

He said that the major demands are merger/permanentization of NHM employees, establishment of public health cadre, determination of grade pay, transparency in work evaluation system, pending 27 percent salary hike, reservation of seats in regular recruitment, compassionate appointment, medical and other leave facilities, transfer policy and minimum Rs 10 lakh cashless medical insurance.
