NIA Files Chargesheet Against Maoist Activist in Indian Army Soldier's Murder Case
NIA Charges Ashu Korsa in 2023 Killing of Army Personnel
The National Investigation Agency (NIA) has filed a chargesheet against Maoist operative Ashu Korsa in connection with the 2023 murder of an Indian Army soldier in Chhattisgarh. Korsa, associated with the banned CPI (Maoist), is accused of involvement in the targeted killing, highlighting ongoing insurgent activities in the region.
The National Investigation Agency (NIA) on Friday filed a chargesheet against an accused arrested earlier in the case of targeted killing of an Indian Army jawan in Chhattisgarh in February 2024. The chargesheet has been filed against Ashu Korsa of Bijapur, Chhattisgarh under Sections 302 read with 120B of IPC, 1860 and Sections 16, 18, 20, 38 and 39 of UA(P) Act in the NIA Special Court at Jagdalpur.
In the investigation by the NIA, which was conducted under case no. RC-13/2024/NIA/RPR, it was revealed that the accused was involved in a criminal conspiracy of banned terror outfit CPI (Maoist) with the aim of killing Motiram Achala. The victim was shot dead by armed cadres of CPI (Maoist) on February 25 last year while he was going with his family to a fair at Useli village in Amabeda area of ââKanker district.
The NIA took over the case, which was originally registered by the local police, on February 29, 2024. During the investigation, it was found that the accused Ashu Korsa was an active armed cadre of the Kuyemari Area Committee of North Bastar Division operating under the CPI (Maoist). He, along with another senior Maoist leader, identified Motiram Achala and killed him in the local market. He was arrested by the NIA in December last year in connection with this conspiracy, which was aimed at spreading terror among the people of that area.
