No Cash at Liquor Shops? New Excise Minister Issues Instructions

The new Excise Minister has directed officials to curb cash transactions at liquor shops, signaling stricter regulation.

 

If you are going to buy liquor in the shop with cash, then it is possible that you may not get liquor… because the new Excise Minister of the state, Lakhanlal Devangan, has instructed the officials to make 100 percent cashless transactions in all the liquor shops of the state. However, the Excise officials have been instructed to make all the liquor shops cashless first.

Chhattisgarh's newly appointed Excise Minister Lakhanlal Devangan took information about the work of the department at the State Ministry (Mahanadi Bhawan) located in Nava Raipur. During this, he got introduced to the officers of the Excise Department, Beverages Corporation and State Marketing Corporation and reviewed the functioning of the department. Excise Secretary R. Sangeeta was specially present in the meeting.

Through the presentation, he told about the work of the department, number of shops, liquor brand, price, revenue receipt as well as distillery. During this, Minister Lakhanlal Devangan directed to make the arrangement of liquor sale in liquor shops 100 percent cashless. He also said that strict vigil should be kept on parties held in farmhouses, because often complaints are received that liquor from outside the state is used in such parties.

The minister directed to install CCTV cameras in all liquor shops and monitor them 24 hours a day from the headquarters and as per the wishes of Chief Minister Vishnudev Sai, directed to take strict action against the manufacture, storage, transportation and sale of illegal liquor and narcotics in the state and also stressed on increasing vigilance and running special campaigns at excise check posts located on interstate borders. Top officials of the Excise Department were also present in the meeting.
