The three-day DGP-IG Conference begins today at the IIM campus in Nawa Raipur, marking the first time Chhattisgarh is hosting the prestigious national security event. The inaugural session will start at 2 p.m., followed by a six-hour marathon meeting focused on internal security, intelligence coordination and future national security strategies.
Senior officials from across the country have already begun arriving in Raipur. The DGPs of Telangana and the NIA reached the city late Thursday. Union Home Minister Amit Shah arrived Thursday night, while Prime Minister Narendra Modi and National Security Adviser Ajit Doval are expected to join the proceedings today. Close to 600 officers and VIP delegates will participate.
Due to protocol changes, Shah flew into Raipur on a special aircraft last night. PM Modi will arrive late tonight and stay at the newly built Speaker House (M-1). Shah will be accommodated at the Finance Minister’s residence (M-11). NSA Ajit Doval and other top central officials will stay at the new Circuit House.
For the first time, SP-rank officers have been allotted seats at the conference. In view of heightened security, the arrival gate at Mana Airport has been closed to the public for three days, and heavy vehicles have been barred from entering Nawa Raipur.
More than 400 private vehicles have been arranged for delegates, with additional taxis sourced from Maharashtra if required.
The Intelligence Bureau has issued security passes at six levels, while the local administration has introduced four additional categories. Around 300 police personnel—including 250 trainee SIs—have been attached to assist senior officers. Over 1,000 additional staff, including catering and technical teams, will support arrangements.
The conference will feature presentations from all states on crime control measures, cyber security, counterterror operations, drug enforcement and border management. A model state may be identified to establish common national guidelines.
This is PM Modi’s second visit to Chhattisgarh in a month; he last came on November 1 for the state’s foundation day celebrations.
