Police Seize 25 Quintals of Illegally Transported Paddy in Raigarh: Vehicle Stopped Near Pakargaon

Authorities intercepted 25 quintals of paddy being moved without authorization.

In Chhattisgarh's Raigarh district, police uncovered an instance of illegal paddy transport. On Thursday night, the Lailunga police station team confiscated a pickup truck carrying 25 quintals of paddy while on regular patrol. The driver and passenger failed to provide any valid paperwork for the consignment, resulting in the seizure of both the paddy and the vehicle.

Sources indicate that the station house officer received specific intelligence late Thursday about unauthorized paddy being transported from the Kupapani side. The team promptly established a checkpoint on the route between Kupapani and Pakargaon and commenced vehicle inspections.

Pickup Truck Found Laden with 25 Quintals

One vehicle stopped during the operation was discovered to be loaded with 25 quintals of paddy. The two individuals inside were identified as Tarun Sidar (21) from Susdega Mudapara village in Jashpur district and Hemant Sidar (29) from Kerju village in Surguja district.

No Valid Paperwork Presented

Upon demanding relevant documents for the paddy, the pair could not produce any proper authorization and appeared evasive. Police then impounded the loaded vehicle and shifted it to the police station compound.

Market Committee Official Notified

The Lailunga mandi secretary has been informed of the seizure. Given the area's proximity to inter-district borders, such incidents of unauthorized paddy movement have occurred previously. Officers are now pursuing the necessary legal formalities.
