Priests in Chhattisgarh to get ₹15,000 monthly honorarium

Chhattisgarh government has announced a monthly honorarium of ₹15,000 for priests and pandits. Selected saints will also be covered under the scheme.
A new beginning has been made for the protectors of Sanatan Dharma and cultural traditions in Chhattisgarh. In the meeting of the Chaturvarnaarth Dharma Stambh Council in the capital, this historic decision was taken that all the priests, purohits and Bhagwatcharyas of the state will get an honorarium of 15 thousand rupees per month on the lines of the Delhi model.
The meeting was chaired by Naga Saint Harishankar Das. He said, the priests and Bhagwatcharyas are not only the protectors of temples and rituals, but are also the beacons of the faith of the society. It is the duty of the state to give them respect and security.
Which saints will get the benefit?
All India Pujari-Purohit Sangh convenor Dr. Saurav Nirvani said that this scheme will be applicable to householder saints of all traditions and castes, due to which saints of every society and religion will be equally benefited. State President of the Sangh Mahant Surendra Das said that the organization is binding all the priests of the state in one thread and will prepare a complete list at the district-village level and submit it to the government. Dr. Nirvani described this initiative as a historic step towards restoring the dignity of Sanatan culture and the Sadhu-Saint tradition in Chhattisgarh.
