PWD Engineer Alleges Assault by Son, Files Police Complaint in Durg

A Public Works Department (PWD) engineer in Chhattisgarh’s Durg district has lodged a police complaint against his own son, accusing him of physical assault and threats to kill following a domestic dispute over a meal.

According to the complaint, the incident took place on December 25 around 3 pm at the engineer’s residence under the Smritinagar outpost of Supela police station. The complainant, Mohan Lal Prajapati, who is posted as a sub-engineer with the PWD in Durg, said he was sitting down for lunch when his wife served him food. During an argument, he allegedly became upset and threw the food aside, saying he would not eat.

The act reportedly angered his son, Vinay Kumar Prasad, who objected to the food being thrown away. The argument soon escalated, and the son allegedly threatened his father before assaulting him with fists and hands. Prajapati told police that his son then dragged him out of the house.

The complainant sustained injuries on the left side of his face and his right hand and complained of severe pain. He also stated that several people in the neighbourhood witnessed the incident and heard the altercation.

Following the assault, Prajapati went to the police station and submitted a written complaint, accusing his son of assault and criminal intimidation. Based on his statement, the police have registered a case and initiated an investigation.

Officials at the Smritinagar police outpost said that the injured man will be sent for a medical examination to confirm the nature of the injuries. Statements of witnesses are also being recorded as part of the legal process.

Police sources added that disputes between the father and son had occurred in the past as well. Further action will be taken after completing the preliminary investigation and medical verification.
