Raigarh Inspects Fertilizer Shops Before Kharif Season, 5 Shops Get Notices, Sets Control Room for Complaint

Raigarh fertilizer inspection before Kharif season finds 5 shops irregular; control room set for farmer complaints and quick action.

Ahead of the upcoming Kharif season, the Agriculture Department in Raigarh district of Chhattisgarh has stepped up its monitoring efforts to ensure farmers receive quality agricultural inputs at fair prices. A dedicated inspection team has been formed to carry out surprise checks at fertilizer, seed, and pesticide outlets across the district.

Inspections Reveal Irregularities in Multiple Shops

In the past two days, officials inspected a total of 16 agricultural input stores in different parts of the district. During these inspections, irregularities were found in five establishments. The issues ranged from improper stock maintenance to the absence of clearly displayed price lists, both of which are considered serious violations under regulatory norms.

Show Cause Notices Issued to Defaulters

Taking a strict stance, the department issued show cause notices to all five shop operators found in violation. They have been directed to rectify the shortcomings immediately and ensure compliance with all operational guidelines. Authorities have indicated that further action may follow if improvements are not made within the stipulated time.

Continuous Monitoring Under District-Level Team

To maintain strict oversight on the storage and distribution of fertilizers, a district-level monitoring team has been established. The team operates under the supervision of Assistant Director of Agriculture Hind Kumar Bhagat, who has been appointed as the nodal officer. Regular and surprise inspections will continue throughout the season to prevent malpractice and safeguard farmers’ interests.

Control Room Set Up for Farmer Complaints

In a move aimed at strengthening grievance redressal, the department has also set up a control room. Farmers can report issues related to fertilizers, seeds, or pesticides through a dedicated helpline number 07762-220213 during office hours. Officials have assured that complaints will be addressed promptly and necessary action will be taken without delay.
