CG Weather Update: Rain Likely Today, Monsoon to Persist for 6 Days

Chhattisgarh is expected to receive more rain today, with active monsoon conditions forecasted to continue across the state for the next six days.

 
 
 

Monsoon has become active again in Chhattisgarh. Light to moderate rain is expected in most parts of the state today. There are chances of thunderstorms and heavy rain in some areas. Monsoon activity is likely to remain like this for the next 6 days.

Heavy rainfall occurred in all the divisions of Chhattisgarh during the last 24 hours. Intense rainfall activity occurred in Bilaspur division of the state. During this period, the highest maximum temperature of 31.2 ° C in the state was recorded in Bilaspur and the lowest minimum temperature of 21.0 ° C was recorded in Pendra Road.

According to the Meteorological Department, a low pressure area has formed due to the effect of cyclonic circulation of upper air located over North West Bay of Bengal, Odisha and West Bengal. It is likely to move in the west-northwest direction and pass through North Odisha and Gangetic West Bengal, Jharkhand and Chhattisgarh. At the same time, a trough is extending from 1.5 km to 7.6 km height from the North East Arabian Sea to the low pressure area located over the North West Bay of Bengal. Also, a cyclonic circulation of upper air is located over North East Madhya Pradesh and it is extended up to 0.9 km height.

Today, light to moderate rainfall and thundershowers are likely at most places in the state. At the same time, thunderstorms with lightning and heavy rain are likely at one or two places. The main area of ​​rain is expected to be Central Chhattisgarh.

Alert issued in these districts
The Meteorological Department has predicted thunderstorms and rain in Balrampur, Jashpur and Surguja for the next 3 hours. Orange alert has been issued for these areas. At the same time, thunderstorms and rain are likely in Gaurela-Pendra-Marwahi, Korba, Korea, Manendragarh-Chirmiri-Bharatpur, Surajpur for the next three hours. Yellow alert has been issued in these areas.

The capital has been cloudy since morning. On Thursday, the weather department has predicted generally cloudy sky with possibility of thunderstorms at some places. During this time, the temperature may remain around 24 to 30 degree Celsius.
