In a significant development in the Raipur suicide case, police have registered an FIR against Arjita Srivastava, the wife of Indian Air Force Wing Commander Vipul Yadav. She has been accused under Section 306 of the Indian Penal Code for allegedly abetting his suicide. The case has drawn attention due to serious allegations of prolonged mental harassment within the family.

Incident Details and Initial Findings

The incident took place in the Telibandha police station area of Raipur. On the night of March 10–11, 2026, 39-year-old Wing Commander Vipul Yadav was found hanging in his government residence. Preliminary investigations indicated that family disputes may have played a role in his decision to take his life. Vipul had married Arjita in 2014 in a love marriage.

Family Allegations of Mental Harassment

During the investigation, police recorded statements from the officer’s relatives and close associates. According to them, Vipul had been under severe mental stress for a long time. His family alleged that he was not allowed to communicate freely with his parents and was kept isolated from them. They believe this emotional strain contributed significantly to his deteriorating mental health.

Evidence Strengthens Case

Police officials stated that certain pieces of evidence collected during the investigation support claims of harassment. Based on these findings, authorities proceeded to file a formal case against Arjita Srivastava. Vipul’s maternal uncle, Surendra Yadav, had earlier alleged during the last rites that Vipul was subjected to severe restrictions by his wife and in-laws. He claimed that the officer was not allowed to speak to his parents and that surveillance cameras had been installed at home, adding to the pressure he faced.

Father Shares Emotional Account

Vipul’s father, Dr. Rajbahadur Yadav, shared that his son rarely opened up about his struggles. Despite repeated attempts, Vipul avoided discussing his personal issues in detail, often dismissing concerns by asking his family not to worry.

The father also revealed that Vipul had independently applied for the Air Force without informing the family. Only after completing the selection process did he share the news. Although some family members initially opposed his decision, Vipul remained committed and pursued his goal with determination.

According to his father, Vipul’s communication with his family became increasingly restricted after marriage. He mentioned that even interactions with his grandchildren were limited. On the few occasions when they spent time together, the children bonded well with their grandparents, highlighting the emotional distance that had developed over time.
