Raipur,C.G
Raipur Municipal Corporation has made it mandatory for certain shopkeepers to pay their taxes online. This new system aims to streamline the collection process and improve transparency. The corporation expects to generate ₹7 crore in revenue through this digital initiative.
After implementing the online payment system in property tax, the Municipal Corporation is starting an online system for collecting rent of its shops. The corporation gets rent of about Rs 7 crore every year from its 4 thousand shops. Physical verification of these shops could not be done for years. The tenants of these shops also made changes in these shops according to their business. Now before implementing the municipal bond in the corporation, a target of collecting at least 400 crore property tax has been set this year.
In this exercise, the Municipal Corporation is implementing this system for payment of its rented shops. Revenue department officials said that before implementing the system, physical survey of 2 thousand 35 shops out of 4 thousand shops was done. After the survey of the remaining shops, it will be uploaded in the software. Till now, receipts were given to the shopkeepers after taking the rent of the shop, now this will not happen. In this, the rent will be decided according to the area of the shop and the rent rate prevailing there. For this, the process of renewal of tenants and increase in fees etc. will be started. It was told that through this process the corporation will get a revenue of about Rs 10 crore from rented shops only.
