In a major anti-drug operation, Raipur police raided over 200 carts and kiosks, seizing thousands of gogo papers, chillums, and other banned substances. FIRs have been registered against 11 individuals.

To curb the increasing prevalence of drugs in Raipur, the police on Thursday launched a comprehensive and organized campaign. Under the leadership of Additional SP (Crime) Sandeep Mittal, the Crime Branch and the city police force raided several areas simultaneously and seized a large quantity of gogo paper, e-cigarettes, hookah flavors, chillum and other banned narcotics. During this operation, more than 200 shops and carts were raided and a case was registered against 11 people. The narcotics were also destroyed on the spot.

In this campaign, conducted on the instructions of Inspector General of Police and Senior Superintendent of Police Dr. Lal Umed Singh, raids were conducted simultaneously on more than 200 carts, kiosks and shops in major areas of the city including Rajendra Nagar, Telibandha, Tikrapara, Gudhiyari, Azad Chowk, Saraswati Nagar, Pandri, Khamtarai. More than 20 police teams were involved in the campaign, which took action in the entire city.
During the raid, the police confiscated thousands of banned materials used for intoxication. These include 2600 pieces of Gogo paper, 400 pieces of roll paper, 550 pieces of chillum, 10 packets of banned hookah flavor, 25 pieces of hookah equipment, 04 packets of banned cigarettes, 04 pieces of cigars and 200 pouches of banned gutkha. Along with this, the seized materials were also destroyed.
FIR registered against 11 people
A case has been registered in the concerned police stations under the Kotpa Act and other sections against 11 shopkeepers found selling narcotics during the raid. Action was taken to immediately close the shops from which this material was recovered.
Raid on the warehouse of Gogo paper dealer
Under the campaign, K.K. located in Shankar Nagar. A raid was also conducted on the warehouse of a Gogo paper dealer named Traders, from where 6000 pieces of Gogo papers were seized. Legal action is also being taken against the warehouse operator and other responsible persons. This entire special operation was conducted by ASP Crime Sandeep Mittal, DSP Crime Sanjay Singh, and Anti Crime and Cyber Unit Incharge Inspector Paresh Pandey.
