Raipur Political Row Erupts as Miscreants Deface MLA Rajesh Munat’s Posters with Black Ink, Lotus Symbol Slashed

In a shocking incident that has heated up the political atmosphere in the capital, unidentified persons smeared black ink and paint on development-related posters of Raipur West MLA Rajesh Munat on Wednesday afternoon. The posters, prominently displaying the BJP’s lotus symbol, were also found with the election symbol deliberately cut and defaced.

 

The incident took place on G.E. Road near Anupam Garden, opposite University Gate in Raipur. Locals and political workers noticed the vandalism around 12:30 PM on November 26, 2025.

FIR Registered Against Vinod Kashyap Alias Bhakku and Associates

Following a complaint, Saraswati Nagar Police Station registered an FIR against main accused Vinod Kashyap alias Bhakku and his unidentified associates. Police have invoked sections related to mischief, defacement of public property, and intent to disturb peace.

Complainant Dinesh Tiwari, a resident of Doomartalab Mohalla Bazar, stated in his police report that he spotted the defaced posters while returning home. The posters carried the slogan: “Har bādha tūṭegī, gyān kī ḍagar par, ab chowpati nahīṃ, Nalanda hogā is nagar par” along with photographs of MLA Rajesh Munat and the BJP lotus symbol.

The deliberate targeting of the BJP symbol and the MLA’s image has triggered strong reactions from local BJP workers, who termed it a “cowardly act of political frustration.”

Raipur West MLA Rajesh Munat is a senior BJP leader and former minister in the Raman Singh government. The posters were part of ongoing publicity highlighting development works in the constituency.

Police sources said raids are being conducted to nab the accused, and further legal action will follow soon.

This incident comes at a time when political temperatures are already high in Chhattisgarh ahead of upcoming local body elections.
