Bribe Demand for Vehicle Transfer Work
According to officials, the accused, identified as a data entry operator at the Raipur Regional Transport Office, demanded ₹15,000 to facilitate the transfer of ownership of a financed vehicle. The complainant was reportedly pressured to pay the amount to get the work done without delay.
ACB Sets Up a Strategic Trap
After receiving the complaint, the ACB team verified the allegations and planned a sting operation. The complainant was instructed to proceed with the transaction under surveillance. Officials carefully monitored the situation to catch the accused in the act.
Arrest Made Inside RTO Office
On Friday, during the planned operation, the clerk accepted ₹14,000 from the complainant as part of the agreed bribe amount. Immediately after the exchange, the ACB team intervened and apprehended him inside the RTO office, preventing any escape or disposal of evidence.
Investigation Underway
Following the arrest, the accused has been taken into custody for further questioning. The ACB is now investigating whether the clerk was involved in similar corrupt practices involving other applicants at the RTO office.
