Raipur Youth in Grip of Drugs, Police Take Action Against Bound Over Persons

Rising drug abuse among Raipur’s youth has raised concern. Police have taken strict action against bound over persons, imposing penalties worth ₹2 lakh each to curb the growing menace.

A few days ago, a video went viral on social media. In which some people were seen consuming drugs. Taking cognizance of the said viral video, Raipur SSP Dr. Lal Umed Singh had instructed the police to verify it and take action against those involved.

On which, under the direction of senior officers, the joint team of Anti Crime and Cyber Unit and Police Station Purani Basti identified and traced the young men and women seen in the viral video and caught them.

There were some teenagers in it and 4 youths who told their names to be Chandan Sonkar, Ritesh Soni, Shivam Dhiwar and Taifiuddin, residents of Raipur. After interrogating them, on the basis of information, the team members raided the places mentioned by them where no narcotic substance of any kind was found.

After this, the police confiscated all the mobile phones and got them forensically examined. The teenagers involved were counseled and handed over to their parents after being counseled. Action was taken against Chandan Sonkar, Ritesh Soni, Shivam Dhiwar and Taifiuddin under the restrictive sections in the Purani Basti police station and a bond of Rs. 2 lakh each was imposed against each of them.
