Rajneesh Singh Elected President of High Court Bar Association; Anil Tripathi Wins Secretary Post

The results of the 2026–2028 elections of the High Court Bar Association Bilaspur were declared on Friday, with Rajneesh Singh elected president after defeating his closest rival Rajeev Srivastava by 137 votes. Anil Tripathi secured victory in the secretary race, completing the formation of the association’s new leadership for the upcoming term.

Election officials said voting was held among 1,418 registered members, of whom 1,213 cast ballots. Counting began at 10 a.m. and continued through the morning under supervision to ensure transparency and accuracy. The contest drew strong participation, with 61 candidates competing for 17 different posts, reflecting heightened interest in the association’s administrative body.

Seven candidates contested for the president’s position, making it the most closely watched race. Singh’s margin of victory established a clear mandate, according to officials. Supporters of winning candidates gathered outside the counting venue after the announcement, celebrating the results.

Alongside the top posts, other key positions were also decided. Gautam Khetrapal was elected senior vice-president, while Mandavi Bhardwaj won the post of women’s vice-president. Additional office-bearers include Vijay Sahu as joint secretary, Aastha Shukla as joint secretary (women), Rahul Mishra as library secretary, Aman Pandey as sports secretary (men), and Pragya Pandey as sports secretary (women).

Results for five executive committee seats were also announced. Abhishek Pandey, Triveni Shankar Sahu, Ashutosh Mishra, Sharad Mishra, and Ujjwal Chaubey were elected members. The association said the new executive body will be formally constituted soon.

Speaking after the results, newly elected office-bearers pledged to prioritise advocates’ welfare, improve coordination between the bar and bench, and expand professional facilities for members. They emphasised the need for institutional cooperation to strengthen legal practice standards and address administrative concerns raised by practitioners.

Bar association elections are considered significant within the legal community because they determine leadership responsible for representing advocates’ interests, managing professional infrastructure, and liaising with judicial authorities. Observers noted that the high voter turnout indicated strong engagement among members and underscored the importance of the association’s role.

The newly elected panel is expected to assume charge in the coming weeks after completion of formalities.
