Sachin Pilot to Visit Chhattisgarh Today; Will Review SIR Campaign in Dhamtari, Kanker and Jagdalpur

Congress’s Chhattisgarh in-charge Sachin Pilot begins a two-day visit to the state today, during which he will review the ongoing Special Intensive Revision (SIR) campaign and attend key organisational meetings.

Pilot is scheduled to land in Raipur at 12:30 pm and head directly to Dhamtari. There, he will participate in the Constitution Day programme and later chair a review meeting on the SIR drive.

After completing engagements in Dhamtari, Pilot will travel to Kanker to meet party office-bearers and assess organisational preparations. He will reach Jagdalpur later in the evening.

On November 27, Pilot will conduct an in-depth review of the SIR campaign in Jagdalpur and also address the media before departing for Delhi in the evening. His visit is being viewed as significant as the party awaits the announcement of new district presidents.

Congress Sets Up Control Room to Monitor SIR Campaign

To ensure continuous oversight of the SIR process, the state Congress has established a control room at its party office. Salaam Rizvi has been appointed as its coordinator. The control room will act on complaints received from districts, including reports of voter names being removed or any irregularities.

The party has also deployed master trainers across districts to train booth-level agents and workers on SIR procedures. The directive clearly states that no voter’s name should be deleted without valid grounds.

Demand to Extend SIR Deadline by Three Months

The Congress argues that the SIR window needs to be extended because the state is currently in the peak paddy procurement season, making it difficult for farmers to engage fully in the revision process. The party alleges that the SIR exercise is being misused to delete voter names from its stronghold booths.

Chhattisgarh Has Over 2.12 Crore Registered Voters

According to the State Election Commission, as of October 27, 2025, Chhattisgarh has 2,12,30,737 registered voters. Of these, SIR forms have been distributed to 2,10,25,208 voters.

By November 21, more than 65 lakh forms had been digitised  roughly 31% of the total electorate.
