This attack took place when the Patwari had reached for investigation on the information of illegal sand storage and the local journalists were covering it.

According to the information, this whole matter is of village Markatola of Purur police station area, where the Patwari had reached the spot for investigation on the complaint of illegal sand storage. Local journalists were also present there with him for coverage. During this time, the sand mafia and their henchmen together attacked both of them.

8 accused arrested, main gang leader still absconding

On the basis of the complaint of the journalist, Purur police took immediate action and arrested 8 accused, while the main accused of this attack is still absconding. Police teams are engaged in searching for him.

This incident has come to light at a time when a constable who went to stop illegal sand mining in Balrampur was crushed to death by a tractor. 4 accused were arrested last night in this case. Now this attack in Balod has raised questions on the seriousness of the administration and law and order.

It has also been alleged that the action of the concerned departments is limited to mere formality, due to which the spirits of the sand mafia are increasing day by day.
