Sex Racket Busted in Raipur: 4 Women Including Pimp Arrested While Seeking Customers

The racket involved luring vulnerable and economically disadvantaged women under the pretext of employment and forcing them into the sex trade. Acting on a tip-off, the Purani Basti police raided a house in the Bhathagaon area and arrested the prime accused who was allegedly operating the racket.

The operation was carried out under the directives of Senior Superintendent of Police Dr. Lal Umed Singh, and led by Additional SP (West) Daulat Ram Porte, Additional SP (City) Lakhan Patle, and City SP Rajesh Devangan.

Prime Accused Arrested with Three Other Women

The police received credible intelligence on May 31 that immoral activities were taking place at a house known as “Italia House.” A special team was quickly formed and conducted a decoy operation using a pointer to confirm the allegations.

During the raid, the main accused, Rusha Khare (38), wife of Dhanau Khare, resident of Ambedkar Nagar, Pendrawan (Sarsiwa Police Station, Sarangarh-Bilaigarh district), was arrested on the spot. Alongside her, three other women were detained:

• Dhaneshwari Markam (Sarguja)

• Bindiya Sidhar (Janjgir-Champa)

• Seetabai Bareth (Raigarh)

Upon questioning, the women revealed that Rusha Khare had brought them to Raipur under the pretense of providing good jobs and income, but later coerced them into prostitution.

Objectionable Material and Cash Seized

During the raid, police recovered ₹1,500 in cash and 14 condoms, both new and used. A case has been registered under Sections 4, 5, and 7 of the Immoral Traffic (Prevention) Act, 1956. Rusha Khare has been remanded to judicial custody.
