Shiv Mahapurana Begins in Dantewada: Pandit Pradeep Mishra Shares Ways to Live a Century

The grand recital of Shiv Mahapurana commenced on December 7 in Harm village near Geedam, Dantewada district, Chhattisgarh, led by renowned preacher Pandit Pradeep Mishra. The seven-day spiritual event will continue until December 13, attracting devotees from across Chhattisgarh as well as neighboring states including Madhya Pradesh, Uttar Pradesh, Odisha, Maharashtra, and Andhra Pradesh.

On the inaugural day, Pandit Mishra highlighted the spiritual significance of Bastar, describing it as a historic center of Lord Shiva devotion. He explained that the Shivling manifests naturally in the waters of the Indravati River, and that even the soil across Bastar could reveal hidden Shivlings. He also noted that Shiva once bestowed part of the Adishakti in the region, making it sacred to both Shiva and Shakti.

Addressing questions from devotees submitted via letters, Mishra discussed longevity, explaining why some people struggle to live long. He emphasized the importance of disciplined living, adherence to rules, yoga, pranayama, and a sattvic diet, while avoiding deceit, ego, and ill will. According to him, those who live harmoniously with others and maintain a pure lifestyle can potentially live up to 100 years.

The event drew hundreds of devotees on the first day, with the organizing committee estimating a turnout of over 1 lakh people during the week. To manage the large crowd, three large domes have been set up, along with 45 temporary toilets, bore wells and tanker-based water supply, and daily free meals for devotees. Accommodation is available inside the domes for those who wish to stay overnight, while women have a dedicated area near a government building by the agricultural market.

Security measures include 400–500 deployed personnel, CCTV surveillance at the venue, and a police control room for constant monitoring. VIP and public parking are organized at five designated locations, ensuring smooth entry and exit.

Pandit Pradeep Mishra, originally from Sehore district, Madhya Pradesh, is widely known for his religious discourses on Shiv Puran, Bhagwat, and other spiritual texts. The Dantewada program marks a major milestone, with meticulous arrangements ensuring a safe, spiritually enriching experience for all devotees.
