Shocking Double Death in Khairagarh: Bodies of Siblings Found in Well, Cloth Tied Around Girl’s Mouth Raises Murder Suspicion

A chilling case has come to light in Jhuranadi village under the Chuikhadan police station limits of Khairagarh district, where the bodies of two minor siblings were found in a well on Sunday morning. The deceased were identified as three-year-old Karan Verma and his one-and-a-half-year-old sister. Police found a cloth tied around the little girl’s mouth and neck, deepening the suspicion of murder.
According to reports, the children’s father, Gajanand Verma, said both kids were playing outside their house as usual when they suddenly went missing. After a frantic search, the family noticed a body floating in a nearby well and immediately informed the police.
A police team rushed to the spot and, with villagers’ help, drained the water using a motor pump. Both bodies were retrievedvillagers said the girl’s body was stuck at the bottom of the well. The sight triggered panic and grief in the area, with a large crowd gathering around the scene.
Investigating Officer Shakti Singh described the case as “extremely sensitive,” adding that it is too early to determine whether it was an accident or a homicide. “We are exploring all possible angles including family disputes, old enmities, or the involvement of an outsider,” he said. Some suspects have reportedly been detained for questioning.
The bodies have been sent to the Chuikhadan Community Health Centre for post-mortem, which will be conducted on Monday. Police said the autopsy report will be crucial in determining the cause of death.
The incident has left the entire Jhuranadi village in shock and mourning. Locals have demanded a fair and speedy investigation, saying such a brutal end to two innocent lives indicates foul play. Meanwhile, police have increased patrolling and launched a search operation in nearby areas.
