Speeding Innova Hits Young Man on National Highway-130, Kills Him

A 22-year-old man lost his life on Friday evening after a speeding Innova Crysta collided with his bike on National Highway-130 near Lahpatra village in Surguja district. Following the high-speed impact, the young man was thrown onto the road and sustained severe injuries, succumbing before reaching the hospital. This incident has drawn attention amid growing concerns over road safety in both national and international news.

The victim, Sudama, a resident of Losga village, was riding his Honda Dream Yuga bike towards Ambikapur when the Innova, speeding from the opposite direction towards Lakhanpur, struck him forcefully. Eyewitnesses reported that the collision was so severe that Sudama, along with his bike, was thrown several meters, hitting his head heavily.

Locals immediately rushed him to the Medical College Hospital in Ambikapur, where doctors declared him dead. The Lakhanpur police identified the deceased and informed his family. Sudama lived with his maternal uncle in Ambikapur and worked as a carpenter. His father had passed away earlier, leaving the family in deep grief.

Following the accident, one of the Innova’s tires burst. The driver fled the scene, taking the vehicle roughly 3 kilometers away to Palgarhi village and hiding it inside a house. The police, alerted by villagers, seized the vehicle, which is registered in the name of Sadanand Mahant of Lakhanpur. The driver remains at large, and the police are investigating the circumstances of the accident.

After the post-mortem on Saturday, the body was handed over to the family.

In a separate incident in Balrampur district, another young man, Ramdhani Korwa of Tharki village near Sewari in Rajpur police station area, died after falling off his bike, suffering a severe head injury. Police are investigating that case as well.

These recurring accidents highlight serious concerns over road safety, speeding vehicles, and lack of public awareness. Authorities in both cases continue their investigations.
