Strict Action Planned in Raipur Against Illegal Parking and Street Vendors

To streamline traffic in the city, the Raipur Police Commissioner and Municipal Commissioner have devised a joint action plan targeting illegal parking and unauthorized street vending. Officials announced that violators will face fines and vehicle towing, aiming to ensure smooth traffic flow on major roads.

A meeting was held at the Police Control Room with Police Commissioner Dr. Sanjeev Shukla and Municipal Commissioner Vishwadeep, along with deputy commissioners from all three city zones and traffic police officials. The primary objective is to reduce congestion at key intersections and thoroughfares and provide uninterrupted movement for commuters.

Enforcement Measures

Under the plan, all major roads in Raipur will be cleared of encroachments in phases. No-parking and no-vending zones will be enforced for 50 meters in all directions from intersections, and vehicles parked or vendors operating in these areas will be fined immediately. Officials have instructed subordinate officers to implement the directives strictly.

Action on Service Roads and Ring Road

A special campaign will target vehicles parked illegally on the service road from Tatibandh Chowk to Zora Bridge on Ring Road No. 1. Vehicles found violating rules will be removed using cranes and towing services.

Additionally, road improvements, including road markings, zebra crossings, and concrete blocks at automated signal intersections for left-turn traffic, will be implemented to improve traffic management. Patrol vehicles have been instructed to monitor compliance continuously.

Vendor Management

To clear market areas of unauthorized carts and stalls, new designated vendor zones will be marked. Police Commissioner has instructed patrol teams to maintain constant vigilance to prevent encroachments from recurring. The Municipal Commissioner assured full support to the Raipur Police in executing this campaign, emphasizing strict action against rule-breakers.

This initiative reflects the city administration’s effort to modernize traffic operations, improve road safety, and provide commuters with smoother, more organized travel within Raipur.
